Luzunaris, Allen honored
TAMPA, Fla. – USL PRO announced its Team of the Week for the eighth week of the 2012 season today, honoring Richmond Kickers forward Chris Agorsor as Player of the Week after he scored a pair of stoppage-time goals to give the Kickers a 3-1 victory against the Wilmington Hammerheads at City Stadium on Saturday night.

Agorsor entered the game in the 53rd minute, and brought energy to the Kickers attack. After fellow substitute David Bulow had tied the game from the penalty spot in the 69th minute, Agorsor struck just after the game had entered stoppage time. A long ball down the right found Matt Delicâte, who sent a deep cross to the far post that was flicked back in front of goal by Ryan Heins, allowing Agorsor to finish from close range.

Agorsor put the game away two minutes later, as a good through-ball from Ross Mackenzie allowed the former University of Virginia standout to outpace his marker and flick a finish over the advancing goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area. Agorsor’s pair of goals gave him a team-high three this season, just one behind a trio of players who lead the league.

Joining Agorsor on the Team of the Week is teammate Henry Kalungi, who put in a strong defensive performance as the Kickers broke their four-game run of draws. Joining Kalungi in defense are Charleston’s Colin Falvey, who put in a strong performance and scored the game-winning goal as the Battery took a 1-0 win against the Los Angeles Blues on Saturday, Orlando’s Wes Allen, who scored his third goal of the season in the Lions’ 1-1 draw with the Blues on Thursday, and Dayton’s Mettin Copier, who had his side’s second goal in their 2-2 draw with the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday.

Rochester’s Danny Earls, whose late corner found Tam McManus to provide a game-tying goal against the Dutch Lions in stoppage time, was also named to the team. He is joined by Harrisburg’s Morgan Langley, who scored the only goal in the City Islanders’ victory against the Rhinos on Friday night, and Jose Cuevas, who showed great creativity in the midfield for Charleston in their victory against Los Angeles.

Langley’s teammate Nick Noble took home the goalkeeping honors after recording a fourth consecutive shutout in all competitions against the Rhinos, helping his side earn a 1-0 victory. The team is rounded out by Los Angeles striker Bright Dike, who had a goal against Orlando and two strong performances on the road for the Blues, and Orlando’s Matt Luzunaris, who scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Lions in their 2-1 win against the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday night.
