The OC 3: 5.11 & 5.13.2012 at Antigua Barracuda FCTake a look at the three big storylines for this weekend's matches
The Lions face a big test this weekend as Orlando City travels across the Atlantic to face Antigua Barracuda FC in a back-to-back series held over the span of three days. Let’s dive right into the three key storylines around the Orlando City team in this week’s OC3. 1) Continuing to learn - In five matches, Orlando City has used four different starting lineups. In the post-match press conference after the win over Pittsburgh, Head Coach Adrian Heath said the reason for the constant change was simple. “It’s all about finding the right selection,” he said. “I’m not worried about who it is (starting) as long as we get a good result.” The season is still very young, with 19 matches left in the 2012 regular season. City will continue to change lineups until Heath finds the right lineup that makes the most sense for the club. 2) Playing back-to-backs on the road - In last year’s back-to-back series against Barracuda FC in Antigua, the Lions took six points by winning the two matches by a combined score of 5-2. Can that result be repeated? Six points on the road would be a huge lift and would most likely separate Orlando from the rest of the table. Antigua sits 7th in the USL PRO table with a 2-4-0 record and six points. Barracuda recently suffered a 4-0 loss to the Charleston Battery in Charleston, with three of the four goals for Charleston coming in the second half. 3) Working without Valentino - Rob Valentino was held out of last week’s 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds due to a hamstring pull suffered during a training session late in the week. Without the San Francisco-native, the Lions gave up two goals for the first time in 2012. Valentino will travel with the team, but his status specifically for Friday remains questionable. It is vital that Valentino be 100% before he plays again, as hamstring strains tend to linger if recovery is rushed. |
