Last season, City made a statement in the trip to Antigua
Antigua Barracuda FC. Located in the Caribbean on a small island nation that is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the West Indies. It is also home to the only club that defeated Orlando City Soccer Club in the Florida Citrus Bowl last season.

In that match, a brawl between the players would break out after Antigua’s Lawson Robinson threw a punch. Multiple red cards would be shown to both sides after the 70th minute fight. Rob Valentino was shown a red card while Jamie Watson would receive a suspension after the match for unsportsmanlike conduct.  Four other Antigua players would be booked for the altercation. It would be the only home loss of the season.  After the defeat, the Lions were furious.

The 2-1 loss was not just the only mark on an otherwise spotless league schedule at the Citrus Bowl, it also ended City’s 11-game unbeaten streak.  The Lions sharpened their teeth, eager for another opportunity to play the Barracudas.

City would get their chance in Antigua, 14 days later. Orlando ripped them apart, defeating the Barracudas 2-1. The two clubs played for a final time two days later. Orlando would come out victorious over Antigua on a 3-1 score line. Sweeping Antigua on their turf, the Lions let out a roar that was heard around the league. They were not to be messed with at home.
