PDL team adds depth before season opener today
ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City Soccer Club announced today the signing of Jason Wellington, David Graydon, Oumar Diakhite and Ricardo Campbell to the U23 squad, pending USSF approval. The four add depth and quality to the Orlando City PDL team that has its home opener tonight at 7 p.m. against Fort Lauderdale Schulz Academy. The match will be held at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Fla.

Wellington is coming off a stellar freshmen campaign at Seton Hall University. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native played in 15 games with 12 starts for the Pirates in his first season with the team. He finished the year with two goals and four total points for Seton Hall. In high school, Wellington attended American Heritage in Boca Raton – becoming an all-state team selection his senior year along with being named to the Sun Sentinel and Palm Beach Post All County Team his junior and senior seasons.

Graydon, a native of Ireland, was an ESPNHS third-team winter high school All-America selection and current member of the ESPNHS 150 for the class of 2012 at Montverde Academy. He scored 11 goals and had 14 assists for Montverde, the No. 1 MaxPreps.com National Championship winners this last season. A 2011 ESPN Rise All-American and No. 76 recruit according to ESPN Rise Magazine, Graydon recorded 21 goals and 32 assists in his two years at Montverde and was a two-time Lake County Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He is committed to Saint Louis for the upcoming fall semester.

Diakhite attended high school powerhouse Montverde Academy under Head Coach Mike Potermpa in 2011-12 where he was part the National Championship squad. A native of Dakar, Senegal, Diakhite was named to the 2012 Berkeley Prep Invitational All-Tournament Team and was a Montverde Academy Soccer Tournament First Team All Tournament selection. He was a member of the Orlando Sentinel All-Central Florida squad and will attend Lindsey College this coming fall.

Campbell was discovered at the Orlando City pro tryouts back in early February. The midfielder was on the Brooklyn Knights, a PDL club based in New York City during the 2011 season. He was invited back to train with the club after the tryout concluded, exceeding expectations in practices enough for the U23s to bring him on board for the upcoming season.
