City on the road to face Kickers
With a 2-0-0 record, the Lions are off to a hot start. Can they keep it going up in Richmond on Saturday? Check out this week’s OC3 to see key storylines regarding tomorrow’s match against the Kickers.

1) Continuing to improve – Even though the Lions won their last match 4-1 and have a 2-0-0 record, you might not know that when talking to Head Coach Adrian Heath.

“A lot of our play was a bit disjointed,” Heath said. “We didn’t move the ball quick enough. We turned it over too easily and we were very loose on marking set pieces.”

The Lions have been working on their final third and moving the ball at a faster pace all week, but will that show on Saturday? We’ll have to see.

2) Back to Back – In their first of three back to backs in which City plays a team two games in a row, the Lions face a tough test in Richmond and back again in Orlando next Saturday. The Kickers are fresh off their first win of the season, defeating Charleston 2-1 after falling to the Battery a week beforehand by the same scoreline. In a recent interview, Ian Fuller said it’s tough to play back to back matches against the same squad because of familiarity.

“It’s a battle when you play the same team again with no other game in between,” Fuller said. “You tend to get familiar with each other.”

3) Can Kevin Molino continue to play at a high level? – Molino is tied for most assists in the USL PRO with two, with both coming in last week’s win over Wilmington. He consistently set up forwards Max Griffin and Dennis Chin during the match while feeding John Rooney for his second goal on the day.

Molino has earned praise from Heath dating back to last season, with the manager stating “If Kevin continues to work hard and play at a high level, I fully expect him to be a top player someday.”

If he keeps on playing like he did the first two games of the 2012 season, it’s not too far off to think Molino could become a regular in the MLS and beyond.
