LEGOLAND mascot a big hit at the Lions home opener
Going out to the Orlando City home opener on Sunday, you may have noticed some additions to the Orlando City brand. One of the most noticeable add-ons was on the back of the Lions jersey, with LEGOLAND, the club’s official family theme park, now having their logo on the lower back of all City jerseys.

LEGOLAND Florida set up a booth in the concourse area of the Citrus Bowl, with a bright-colored SUV and table filled with LEGO merchandise. The biggest draw wasn’t the LEGO products, however, but their mascot that everyone gravitated toward.

LEGOLAND Florida’s mascot, Buddy, posed for pictures and supported Orlando in their 4-1 win at the home opener. Buddy ran with all the youth clubs at halftime, doing his best to keep up with the children sprinting around the pitch. With a crowd around him the entire time, it’s not a stretch to say he was a big hit at Orlando’s home opening.

I asked LEGOLAND on how they viewed City’s home opener and their perceptions of how Buddy was received.

“Being able to share a little part of the LEGOLAND Florida experience with families and friends at the home opener game, created excitement and interactive fun for all.”

Florida’s newest theme park has a lot up there sleeve when it comes to future Orlando City home games, including a future visit from Buddy and more surprises.

“LEGOLAND Florida is always looking for new and exciting ways to engage kids and families,” said a LEGOLAND representative. The park looks forward to this year’s season and engaging with the youth soccer clubs and soccer fans alike. We know Buddy looks forward to his next visit!”

To see what LEGOLAND will bring out next, be sure to attend Orlando’s next home match on Saturday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. against the Richmond Kickers. Starting at just $15, tickets are available by calling 855-ORL-CITY.
