The 2012 regular season marks the return of our weekly By the Numbers Piece, a look at statistics that dive deeper past the regular win-loss-tie records. So without any further ado, Let’s go By the Numbers. 33 - Total number of points Charlotte finished the regular season with last year. The Eagles ended with a record of 9-9-6, missing the USL Pro playoffs by one just one spot in the American Divison. 20 - Years the Eagles have been in existence. Charlotte has made the playoffs 15 of the last 19 seasons, totaling seven appearances to the championship game since their inception in 1991. 524 - Miles the Lions will travel up to Charlotte, North Carolina. Traveling on a bus via I-95 northbound, the trip will be last around nine hours. 6 -The number of new players added to the Orlando City roster in 2012. This last offseason saw the acquisitions of: John Rooney, Anthony Pulis, James O’Connor, Matt Luzunaris, Kyle Davies and Justin Clark. 16 -Total number of goals the Lions scored in the 2012 college friendlies series. In the same span of time, Orlando City only allowed an impressive two goals. The very last preseason match saw the Lions clobber the USF Bulls 5-0, the largest margin of victory in any match in franchise history. 1-0-1 -Marks the Lions all-time record against the Charlotte Eagles. City defeated the Eagles 1-0 on April 16 while earning a draw later in the season, 0-0 on June 2. 5 - Total number of assists John Rooney has accrued over the preseason. Rooney earned numbers four and five in the last preseason friendly, helping Rob Valentino and Luke Boden notch goals in the win over USF. |
