It's not always easy being the son of a famous manager
According to Anthony Pulis, it’s not always easy being the son of a famous manager.

Pulis is the son of Stoke City Head Coach Tony Pulis, who began his coaching career with A.F.C. Bournemouth of the Football League One and worked his way up to leading an EPL team in the Potters.

“It was tough in England to not have it say: Anthony Pulis, son of Tony Pulis,” Pulis said. “That’s just one of the things I’ll always have to live with.”

Pulis has made several stops in his career- including Stoke City, Southampton and Aldershot Town. One of the key decisions that led Pulis to Orlando was the opportunity to establish his own identity.

“I thought it would be good to have a change of scenery and lifestyle. I heard nothing but good news about Adrian (Heath) and his system in Orlando. I saw it as a chance to reestablish myself in a new place.”

Pulis has been a solid addition to the most important part of Adrian Heath’s system in the preseason – the midfield. He’s beginning to understand more of what the Orlando City manager expects out of him in during the 2012 preseason.

“He (Heath) likes me to be vocal. Communication is a massive part of the game and it can make or break a team. If you have players that are vocal, it makes a big difference. It’s my job to distribute the ball as well as I can so we can keep control of the match. If we don’t have it, I’m going to work as hard as I can to get it back.”

In the end, Pulis just wants the story to read “Anthony Pulis, Midfielder for Orlando City.” With 2012 ahead of him, he’ll have plenty of time to prove it should read just that.
