Kevin Molino joins Trinidad for Olympic Qualifying TournamentOrlando City midfielder to miss remainder of training camp while with T&T Olympic Qualifiers squad
ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City midfielder Kevin Molino has been named to the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Qualifying roster. Molino will miss the remainder of training camp while with the T&T squad, but will rejoin the team in time for the season opener on April 7 in Charlotte, NC.“We’re pleased that he’s going and wish him well,” said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. “We hope he comes back fit and well and they get the desired result. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for him.” Molino has become an integral part of the Trinidad & Tobago national team, both at the Under 23s level and with the Senior squad. After leading the Soca Warriors U23s during the 2011 Pan American Games in Mexico, Molino played in several friendly matches for the senior squad, and scored his second international goal of his young career against Finland in January. Also joining the Trinidadian squad is University of Central Florida alum and Columbus Crew rookie midfielder Kevan George. Trinidad & Tobago’s group for the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament consists of Mexico, Honduras, and Panama. The United States play in Group A along with Cuba, Canada, and El Salvador. The top two teams in group play qualify for the semifinals. The semifinals winners qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. All of the matches will be broadcast on Universal Sports Network and CONCACAF.com |
