Alumni Report: Alvarez earns minutes, Neal earns a contractYordany Alvarez takes on LA while Lewis Neal signs with DC United
Every week, we'll pull together news on our former players, giving you a chance to catch up with old favorites. Here's this week's Alumni Report.Yordany Alvarez - Real Salt Lake MLS First Kick came and went this week, and Yordany Alvarez, last year's midfielder general, got his chance to shine late in the match against LA Galaxy. Alvarez was set to come in nearly the 80th minute, but the Galaxy, trailing by two goals repeated beat the referee's whistle by resuming play before he had a chance to react. Alvarez finally stepped on to the pitch in the 89th minute, and helping the Claret & Cobalt fend of a flurry of Galaxy attacks in the match's dying moments. Lawrence Olum - Sporting Kansas City Olum was in DC for the SKC/DC United match, but did not see playing time. He was an unused sub on the bench in the match that saw SKC win 1-0 in the 93rd minute on a C.J. Sapong header. Lewis Neal - DC United Neal was not a signed player for the SKC match, but as of today, that has changed. Lewis was announced today as the filling the final DC United roster spot. He had previously been on trial with Real Salt Lake. |
