City Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Battery at Home Lions face Charleston Battery at ESPN Wide World of Sports on Saturday night
Orlando, Fla.- Orlando City SC (8-0-3, 27 points) will look to extend its USL PRO unbeaten streak to 12 games tomorrow night when the Lions host the Charleston Battery (3-4-4, 13 points) at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST, and the match will be live-streamed via YouTube.com/OrlandoCitySC. Saturday’s match will mark the third meeting between the two sides in the opening two months of the 2014 USL PRO campaign. City began the 2014 season with a 1-1 draw at Blackbaud Stadium before securing a 1-0 win over the Battery at home on April 12. The Lions are 7-0-0 all-time against the Charleston Battery at home. Orlando City are currently in first place in USL PRO, six points clear of LA Galaxy II, and have not lost to a professional team from the United States since falling 3-0 to the Chicago Fire in its first preseason game in February. After defeating the Charlotte Eagles 3-1 in league play at home on May 21, Orlando went on to produce a prolific 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies of NASL in its third round Open Cup match. Midfielder Kevin Molino, who leads USL PRO in goals (8), scored a brace in City’s win over the Rowdies, continuing his excellent form so far this season. Charleston, on the other hand, reside in seventh place in the league table. After defeating the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 24, the Battery fell to another team from Orlando, the Orlando City U23s, in penalties in its third round U.S. Open Cup Match. Charleston did well to rally back, after going down two goals in the first half, but the U23s would outlast in the Battery after 14 grueling rounds of penalty kicks. |
