The Orlando City U23s will kick off its third season on Wednesday, May 14, in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) side Jacksonville United FC at Seminole Soccer Complex. The young Lions will play a total of seven regular season games at Seminole Soccer Complex. The T-Pass has also made a return this year and is currently on sale. The exclusive t-shirt serves as a season ticket and guarantees entry into all seven regular season home games this season. First team season ticket holders are able to purchase the T-Pass for just $25. Meanwhile, non-season ticket holders can also purchase the T-Pass for $30. The U23s are an integral component of the Orlando City SC pyramid and places an emphasis on development over results. The U23s provides a direct avenue from the youth ranks to the professional level, displaying talented future first-team prospects. Throughout the past three years, three U23s have made their way onto the Orlando City SC professional roster. The first U23s player to graduate into the first team was current OCSC Midfielder Adama Mbenuge, who was followed by current Rochester Rhinos Midfielder Jonathan Mendoza and Oumar Diakhite who is now with Portuguese first-division side S.C. Olhanese. Last season, the U23s finished third in the Southeast Division and Striker Tyler Blackwood and Midfielder Itode Fubara were named among the top 44 players in the nation. Blackwood also scored 15 goals in 14 matches in 2013, finishing second in the nation. |
