Orlando City Foundation Donates $10,000 to New Image Youth Center Orlando City Forward Dennis Chin presented donation to Parramore non-profit
It was a big day for the New Image Youth Center. Days before Christmas, the Orlando City Foundation, in coordination with donors from Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS), presented a $10,000 check to New Image Youth Center (NIYC) located in the Parramore area in downtown Orlando. Orlando City Forward Dennis Chin handed the check to NIYC representatives Friday afternoon, making a huge impact to the non-profit prior to the holiday break. The funds will help cover expenses for the Center, including paying for the recently-increased rent costs. Foundation Board Member Kirk Chin and Junior Boys/Girls Academy Director Craig Melton kick started the donation, sending out a mass email to OCYS parents and donors about the glaring needs. Monies were raised, including a major anonymous contribution. NIYC is the refuge of 50 youth who come from unhealthy, dangerous and sometimes deadly households. The Center gives the children a safe place to learn and play in the Parramore area. Orlando City and the Orlando City Foundation have been heavily involved in the NIYC over the past few years, including such initiatives as the Little Free Library and free soccer clinics. Chin has also dedicated his own time to the Center, teaching the kids about healthy eating and staying active. The Orlando City Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and is committed to supporting charities that improve the lives of children in our Central Florida community.
