Orlando City SC Response to Orlando Sentinel Article Club Responds to Wednesday’s Story Regarding Attendance Figures
In response to the recent article in the Orlando Sentinel, the organization issued the following statement: “As an organization we felt it important to clarify this matter and provide you, our fans, with additional facts. The ‘turnstile’ count quoted in the Sentinel article is only a portion of actual supporters attending our matches. In fact, as the article correctly points out, the turnstile counts don't comprehensively include several key groups, such as select suite holders, youth soccer groups and sponsors. The Club has always chosen to not follow the industry practice of announcing total tickets distributed – despite the majority of other pro sports teams electing to do so (as the Sentinel points out). Simply put, Orlando City SC has always announced what it believes to be an accurate number of fans in the Citrus Bowl. We want to thank our fans again for what they have helped us build in only 3 seasons of existence. We are confident our large fan base will be demonstrated yet again this Saturday. We encourage any new fans to join us and experience an atmosphere like no other this Saturday as the Lions battle for the USL Pro Championship.” |
