Congratulations, Yann!

Former Orlando City SC Defender Yann Songo’o has officially been signed by English Championship side Blackburn Rovers F.C. after spending time with the club on trial.

The 21 year old impressed the right people at Blackburn, appearing in matches against Wrexham, Portimonense and Fleetwood in friendlies over the past couple of weeks.

Songo’o was originally signed to Major League Soccer (MLS) affiliate Sporting Kansas City this past December, and was loaned to Orlando as part of the affiliation agreement with Dom Dwyer, Christian Duke and Jon Kempin. At the time of the call back, the defender was tied for most minutes played on the squad with Winger Luke Boden with 1,080 through 12 regular season matches.

Blackburn plays at the English League Championship level, one tier below the English Premier League (EPL). They begin their regular season away on August 4th against Derby.
