Match Preview Orlando Ends Road Swing in Pittsburgh Wednesday Night Lions take on the Riverhounds for first time in 2013 at Highmark Stadium
Photo: Alex Schierholtz Orlando City SC (11-2-5, 38 points) continues play on the road this Wednesday, July 17, against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Penn. The match will be live streamed on USLNation.com, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. EST. Orlando played to a 3-3 draw Sunday night in Beavercreek, Ohio, against the Dayton Dutch Lions. The result was the club’s third draw in their last five matches. Sporting Kansas City (Major League Soccer) loanee and MLS 2011 Rookie of the Year C.J. Sapong scored his first goal for the Lions in the second half to put Orlando up 3-2, but the Lions were unable to hold off a late Dayton rally to end the match at 3-3. Pittsburgh opened up the 2013 in a new soccer-specific stadium (Highmark Stadium) and holds a record of 5-6-6 through 17 games played at home. The Riverhounds are 4-2-4 at Highmark, scoring 19 goals while only allowing 13. Pittsburgh is led by Forward Jose Angulo, who has scored 11 times this year. The 11 scores is most among active players in 2013. The two sides have yet to meet in 2013, but the Lions hold a 2-0-2 (W-L-T) advantage over the Riverhounds in four meetings over the past two seasons. Orlando currently leads the league table with 38 points, with the next four teams just seven points out of the top spot. Second-place Richmond Kickers have a game in-hand on the Lions, sitting one point behind the league-leaders heading into the final month of the 2013 season. |
