Match Preview Orlando City U23s Play Twice this Week Lions set to play Southwest Florida Adrenaline and Panama City Beach Pirates at Seminole Soccer Complex
Orlando, Fla- After defeating the Ocala Stampede (4-2-1, 13 points) in a Southeast Division match on Friday night, the Orlando City U23s will resume play on Wednesday, June 19, and Saturday afternoon against Southwest Florida Adrenaline (1-4-0, 3 points), and the Panama City Beach Pirates (4-1-0, 12 points). The match against the Adrenaline is set to kickoff at 7 p.m., while the game against the Pirates has been rescheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Southwest Florida Adrenaline has had a turbulent start to the 2013 campaign, and currently sits in seventh place in the Southeast Division. The Adrenaline is 0-2 on the road so far this season, after losing 3-1 to the Brilla and 2-1 to the Pirates respectively. The club is led by Strikers Scott McCoubrey and Xavier Silva who have three goals each, and have combined for 13 shots. The U23s faced Southwest Florida Adrenaline on June 1 in Naples, Fla., and Striker Tyler Blackwood scored his first hat-trick of the season- leading the Lions to a 5-0 victory. The Panama City Beach Pirates presently hold the third place position in the Southeast Division, but have yet to play a game on the road. The Pirates will travel to Ocala on Thursday to take on the Stampede, who handed Panama their lone loss of the season at Gavlak Stadium. The club also has eight players who have all scored a goal each through five games played. Panama played their first game of the season against the Lions and defeated the U23s 1-0 after the Lions went down a man early in the game. The U23s most recently overpowered the Ocala Stampede, marking their third consecutive win of the season. University of Tampa product Tyler Blackwood scored a brace in the win, improving his tally to nine goals through five matches played. The U23s record for most goals scored is four, and Blackwood has already shattered that mark with seven games remaining in the regular season. The Lions are currently in first place in the Southeast Division, but have played one more game than second-place side Mississippi Brilla (4-2-0, 12 points). The U23s have four more games remaining at home, and the T-PASS has been reduced to $13 for pro-season ticket holders and $20 for non-season ticket holders. The T-PASS is a limited edition t-shirt that serves as a season ticket for U23 regular season games held at Seminole Soccer Complex, in Sanford, Fla. Click here to purchase the T-PASS! |
