Lions face Stampede Friday, June 14, and could move into first place in Southeast Division with win

Orlando, FLA- The Orlando City U23s (3-2-1 10 points) will host the Ocala Stampede (3-1-0, 9 points) in a Southeast Division rivalry match tonight at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Fla, with the match set for kickoff at 7:00 p.m. The Lions are currently in the second place position in the Southeast Division, and Ocala is lurking closely behind in the third place slot.

The Ocala Stampede got off to a blistering start this season, winning three out of their first four matches. The Stampede’s most impressive result was a 4-0 thrashing over the Mississippi (4-2-0 12 points) Brilla, who currently sits atop the Southeast Division. The Ocala-based side also played a competitive match against Orlando City SC on Tuesday, May 21, in the second round of the US Open Cup, losing 2-1. Ocala has won their last two matches in Premier Development League play, and is led by Striker Jack Bailey who has three goals and 14 shots so far this season.

After losing two out of their first three games, the Lions have created a bit of momentum as of late. The U23s are currently on a two game win streak after defeating Southwest Florida Adrenaline 5-0, followed by a tough 1-0 victory over the Mississippi Brilla. The young Lions are two points behind the Brilla and could move into first place with a victory over the Ocala side tonight. The U23s are led by Striker Tyler Blackwood who has notched seven goals this season, which is tied for second-best in the nation.

After the Ocala match, the U23s will take on Southwest Florida Adrenaline on June 19, followed by the Panama City Beach Pirates on June 22 at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The SW Florida Adrenaline match is set to kick-off at 7 p.m., and game against the Pirates will begin at 4 p.m. The Lions fell to the Pirates 1-0 earlier this season at Gavlak Stadium in Panama City Beach, Fla.
