Phoenix FC, Antigua Barracuda FC visit Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl

ORLANDO, Fla.— Orlando City SC (8-1-2, 26 points) continues USL PRO regular season play this weekend against expansion side Phoenix FC (2-7-3, 9 points) on Friday, June 7, and Antigua Barracuda FC (0-9-0, 0 points) on Sunday, June 9. Both matches will be held at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., with each set for kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

After a strong start to begin the season, Phoenix FC is 0-4-2 (W-L-T) in their last six matches. The two squads met earlier in the season, with Orlando taking the road victory 3-1 on April 8th after going down a goal early in the game. Forwards Dom Dwyer and Long Tan notched one goal a piece while Midfielder Kevin Molino added the third goal in the 2013 season-opening victory.

Phoenix was announced as a USL franchise on July 2 of 2012 and is led by Head Coach David Robertson. Robertson played in 220 first team games for Scotland’s Aberdeen, helping his squad win the Scottish League Cup in 1989 and the Scottish Cup in 1990. The Wolves’ leading goal scorer is Defender Donald Tola, who has three goals on the year in 1,079 minutes played.

After the Phoenix match on Friday, the Lions continue play at home Sunday against the winless Antigua squad. Orlando dominated the Barracudas 7-2 in May, with league-leading scorer Dom Dwyer scoring a hat trick in the club’s largest margin of victory in franchise history (regular season). Anthony Pulis and Rob Valentino also notched a score in the romp back on May 4th.

The Lions are currently undefeated at home this season, posting a 5-0-0 record in 2013 USL PRO regular season play. Orlando has an impressive goal differential of +15, scoring 21 while only allowing six. The club has not lost at the Citrus Bowl in the USL PRO regular season since June of 2011, a 24 game home unbeaten streak.
