By The Numbers: Orlando City v Tampa Bay Rowdies (I-4 Derby) Look at the numbers behind today's inaugural I-4 Derby vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies
The Lions have set their sights on the first leg of the I-4 Derby presented by United World Soccer against the NASL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies at Fifth Third Bank field at the Florida Citrus Bowl on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. as Orlando looks to win the home leg of the two-game series against the rival Rowdies. Let’s see what’s in store for the matchup by going By The Numbers… 2- Number of goals the Lions scored in the first-ever meeting against Tampa in the final match of the 2013 Disney Pro Soccer Classic. Jamie Watson and Dennis Chin scored in the 1st and 76th minutes, respectively, to put the Lions on top. 1st- This is the first-ever derby between the two Florida teams. The second leg will be held on Saturday, March 30, in St. Petersburg, Fla., at the Rowdies’ home ground of Al Lang Stadium. 4- Orlando City will play 4 collegiate games between the first and second leg of the I-4 Derby. Those matches include games against Stetson, Rollins, Florida Gulf Coast and the University of Tampa. 6- Orlando City has scored 6 goals in its first 5 preseason games (including the Disney PSC tournament). Tampa Bay may have their hands full with both Jamie Watson and Dennis Chin, who are jointly holding first place for goals scored in 2013 preseason games. 1-0 – Tampa Bay got its first win of the preseason last weekend against the University of South Florida in a preseason friendly of their own. The only goal of the match came from the Rowdies’ Jemal Johnson, who notched the lone score of the game in the 20th minute of play. |
