Orlando City impressed many at the start of the 2013 Disney Pro Soccer Classic (PSC), keeping its unbeaten streak alive against Philadelphia Union (1-0-2) with a 1-1 draw Saturday night. Forward Dennis Chin scored the lone goal for Orlando in the 54th minute, continuing his upward path of improvement after a stellar 2012 USL PRO season. With the draw in the rear-view mirrors, let’s take a look at the Toronto FC match Wednesday night and go By The Numbers….. 3- Orlando has just three days between games to prepare for the second match of the PSC. The club is training each morning at the Seminole Soccer Complex, taking little break from its hectic game schedule. 1-0-1 -The Lions have never lost to Toronto (1-0-1 all time) in two meetings between the clubs. The last meeting occurred at the 2012 version of the PSC, with that game ending in a 1-1 draw. 2-Toronto FC’s Head Coach Ryan Nelson said in his post-match interview after his club’s loss to the Columbus Crew, “We only conceded 2 shots the whole game” -meaning the Lions will really have to work at getting past Toronto’s backline. 1000+ -Orlando’s game against Philadelphia Saturday drew a crowd of more than 1,000 supporters to the Wide World of Sports Complex. 6 – Head Coach Adrian Heath was impressed with the three trialists that started in Saturday’s game, which included Freddie Bruan, Brian Fekete, and the speedy Keammar Daley. There are a total of six players currently on trial with City who could get the chance to play in Wednesday night’s game. Players Available: 17-James O'Connor *Designates trialist/free agents -Trialists Jerome Mechack and Adama Mbengue are currently on trial with MLS affiliate Sporting Kansas City until further notification by the club’s coaching staffs.
