Former LA Blues Rightback Says Stadium Atmosphere Big Reason Why He Signed With Orlando

OrlandoCitySoccer.com recently sat down with new signee Bryan Burke, finding out why he chose Orlando in free agency, what he brings to the club and the possible positions he can play for Head Coach Adrian Heath.

OrlandoCitySoccer.com- How did the process of signing with Orlando begin?

Burke- It really started in the middle of last season when we (LA) came to town. I saw the atmosphere and really liked Orlando. I was new to USL PRO at the time but saw the way Adrian Heath coached and wanted to be a part of that system. I just knew I had to get there.

OrlandoCitySoccer.com- Did you have any other choices in free agency or was Orlando the place you really wanted to be?

Burke- I had a couple options on the table, but ultimately I talked to Adrian (Heath) and he was just saying that Orlando was the place to be. It was really a no-brainer.

OrlandoCitySoccer.com- Coach Heath was quoted as saying “Burke is the best player we played against last year” and “is going to be good on our attacking half.” What are your thoughts on that and what do you think you can add to the 2013 City team?

Burke- I don’t really have a set position right now. Last year I played rightback for the first time and have played forward along with mid. The year with the (Pumas) I played forward. I definitely am attack-minded but also like to play defense. I’m basically ready to play anywhere. I’m just going to go in there and work hard.

OrlandoCitySoccer.com- Rob Valentino and Luke Boden are veterans on the backline, have you spoken to them yet about coming onto the team?

Burke- I talked to Rob (Valentino) and he said that I should get out here and that I’d really like it and excel. It was a positive sign to come on the team and join Orlando this next year.
