Behind the Numbers: A.S. Roma Everything you need to know about Wednesday's match vs. A.S. Roma
It’s that time of the year again, City fans! 2013 is now upon us and with it comes one of the most exciting matches the Lions have ever had. A friendly vs. Italian club A.S. Roma awaits Orlando City in a match held at Barker Family Stadium at Rollins College, with Roma bringing top level talent like Michael Bradley and Francesco Totti to Central Florida to square off against the hometown Lions. 1-2-0- (W-L-T) City’s all-time record against top-level foreign competition. The Lions have played vs. Stoke City, Newcastle United and Bolton, (all of the English Premier League) with the lone win coming against Newcastle back in 2011. This will be the first time Orlando plays against a top-flight team from a country other than England. 2-0-0 – The Lions are 2-0-0 when scoring first in professional friendlies all-time. Contradictory, the club is 0-3-1 when conceding the first goal. 2- The amount of players who will feel right at home at Barker Family Stadium in Winter Park. City has two alumni of Rollins College on the squad, including Justin Clark and Dennis Chin. The two were regular starters for the Tars during their time and should get a boost from the home crowd. 500+ -It will be a packed house on Wednesday at Rollins College as the game sold out within one day of being announced. As a reference, Barker Family Stadium holds around 500 seats. Standing room outside the facility is available, just be sure to come early to grab a good sight line. The Orlando City Street Team will be collecting donations outside of the stadium for those who grab a seat near the fences. 1- The A.S. Roma friendly is the first match in franchise history that all ticket proceeds will be going toward the Orlando City Soccer Foundation. A 501 (c)(3) non-profit, the Foundation promotes exercise and healthy eating to the children and families in the Central Florida area and has done recent work in the Parramore area at the New Image Youth Center.
