Chin, others, ready for another opportunity against top-level competition Wednesday vs. AS Roma

It’s not everyday you get to go back and play at your alma mater once you turn pro. But when you’re local boy Dennis Chin, that chance is occurring in a little less than a week.

And this time, it’s not a collegiate friendly. It’s against U.S. National team star Michael Bradley and three-time Serie A Champions A.S. Roma.

Chin, a former starter at Rollins, leads the Lions onto the pitch at Barker Family Stadium on Wednesday against one of the top clubs in the world – A.S. Roma. The match, which sold out in a little more than a day, is something the squad has been looking forward to since its announcement.

“It’s just another chance for us to play with the big clubs,” said Chin. “We are looking forward to getting out there and start the 2013 (pre) season.”

The team, which will field a combination of the 2011-12 squad and trialists selected by the coaching staff, has been conditioning for the past few months, with Head Coach Adrian Heath entering the fold with his direction these past two weeks. Chin was confident in how the team feels going into a match against Roma, who currently sits sixth in Serie A standings.

“We know what we’re up against,” said the Oviedo native. “It’s not a thing that we’re going to get psyched out about. It’s just about proving who we are and putting Orlando on the map.”
