Top Moments of 2012: #3 Fuller Wins It in 84th Minute Ian Fuller's game-winner vs. Pittsburgh makes it to the #3 spot in our countdown
Orlando City Assistant Coach/Midfielder Ian Fuller didn’t score many goals in 2012. Through 22 games played last season, Fuller scored just three goals in USL PRO competition. But when he did score, boy did they count. #3 of the top 5 moments of 2012 leads up to Ian Fuller’s game winner in the 84th minute against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at the Citrus Bowl in front of nearly 7,000 rowdy City fans. Looking at the big picture, the game was just another in a string of matches the Lions had in early May. Orlando already held a record of 3-0-1 and was about to get another point with a home draw vs. Pittsburgh. But the Lions last gasp at the end of the game produced one of the most thrilling finishes we saw in 2012. After the Riverhounds equalized in the 85th minute, Kevin Molino found an unmarked Fuller alone in the box- with the player/coach one touching the pass past the keeper and scoring the game-winner. The image that accompanies the article sums up a lot of what everyone felt at the Citrus Bowl that night- pure joy. Fuller’s now-famous fist pump in the air (seen in the link below) will always remain a classic in the constantly building archive of greatest moments in Orlando City history.
