By The Numbers: 7.25.2012 vs. Wilmington HammerheadsA look at the numbers behind tonight's match with the Wilmington Hammerheads
Orlando City begins a three game home stint tonight as they take on the Wilmington Hammerheads. This will be the Lions third match-up against the Hammerheads this year, with the Lions looking to start the week off on the right foot. Later this week, the Lions will take on Charleston Battery and then Stoke City in Orlando’s International Friendly. Let’s check out today’s By The Numbers. 2 - The Lions have met the Hammerheads twice this season, defeating them first in Orlando’s home opener 4-1 back on April 15, but losing their first USL PRO season game on the road 3-1 on June 2. 1 - Mentioned in the first point, Wilmington is the only club to defeat Orlando in regular season play so far in 2012. The Lions lead the league with a record of 14-1-4 and 46 points. 51 - A win vs. Wilmington on Wednesday and Charleston on Friday will push Orlando past least year’s point total of 51. In 2011, City was crowned regular season champs with a record of 15-6-3 and 51 points. With five regular season matches left, it’s not hard to imagine the Lions going beyond last year’s point total. 21 - The number of goals the Lions have scored since their last match against the Hammerheads. The most in one match, four, has occurred twice in the last three matches, once against Rochester and the other Los Angeles. Orlando did not allow a goal in both of those wins. 46 - Orlando City remains at the top of the USL standings with a total of 46 points, leading by 11 points over second-place Rochester for first place in the table. |
