OCYS Super-Y U17 Boys Purple 1:2 FC United

This past weekend the Orlando City Soccer Club U17s faced Jacksonville’s FC United. Despite a plethora of chances and their domination of possession, our Purple U17 side fell to their opponents 2-1.

After the quarter-hour mark, City seized possession of the ball. Later, through some excellent work down the left flank by Andrew Jablon and Lenin Castillo, Danny Hurtado would miss the first opportunity on goal when he was only able to head the ball over the crossbar.

Although the young Lions side proved the more dominant side, FC United managed to grab the first goal of the match just five minutes before the break. Taking advantage of a sloppy pass, the Jacksonville side created a chance and scored, putting Orlando down 1-0 before halftime.

Just as in the fist half, City would again take control of the match after 15 minutes. James Benjamin netted an equalizer in front of an open net in the 60th minute after receiving superb service from his teammate Jarumi Bonnor.

Twenty minutes later, the inescapable heat took its toll on Orlando’s U17s. Just like the sun, FC United wouldn’t give Orlando a chance to rest when they created a goal from nothing in the 80th minute.

In the last minutes of the match, our U17 side gave their all in search of an all important equalizer. Sadly, no one would find one as City’s U17s would go down 2-1.
