The three hot topics with Orlando City
As we get into the middle of summer, things are heating up for both Orlando City and the Orlando City U23s. Both clubs are winning at the right times and have the rest of the regular season to finish strong. Read more on this week’s biggest storylines in today’s OC3.

1) Orlando beginning to separate from rest of table- Orlando City completed a sweep of the LA Blues last night, taking the full six points on the road while increasing their lead over second place-club Rochester (who comes to town on July 14th). The Lions, after a competitive 1-0 win over the Blues on Friday, blew out LA Sunday by a score of 4-0. Dennis Chin notched a brace in the first half while Jeane Alexandre and Matt Luzunaris each scored a goal of their own in the second to complete the victory.

With seven games remaining in the regular season and a record of 11-1-4, the Rochester match on Saturday could prove to be Orlando’s most important game this season. Check back on Orlandocitysoccer.com this week for previews and more on this weekend’s bout between the league’s top two teams.

2) U23s getting hot at the right time- If you haven’t been following the news with the U23 team, you’ve been missing out. City has won three straight since falling to division-leading Ocala three weeks ago, propelling them to second place in the division with three games to go. The top two teams advance from the Southeast Division once the regular season comes to a close, with Orlando in the second slot as of July 9th.

The Lion U23s face IMG Bradenton Academics tomorrow at the Seminole Soccer Complex with kickoff set for 7 p.m. IMG is currently in third place, making Tuesday’s game that much more important. Be sure to come out and support the U23s up in Sanford tomorrow. Gates open at 6 p.m., with admission starting at $5 for kids 16 and below and just $10 for everyone 17 and up.

3) Women playing for TIME- Bidding has started for the special edition pink jerseys to be worn by Orlando players on July 14th against the Rochester Rhinos! The City players will sign and hand over their jersey to the highest bidder after the match, making for a great collectible.

To bid on your favorite player’s jersey today, visit http://www.32auctions.com/organizations/4155/auctions/4599. All proceeds from the jerseys will go toward Women Playing For Time (WPFT), a volunteer organization dedicated to making a positive impact on women facing cancer.
