ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS TEAM UP WITH PETSMART TO CREATE A DOG FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE
Fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks will be able to purchase tickets for their dogs to all Sunday Home Games during the 2016 Season.

I hope all of you that live in areas with changes in seasons are enjoying the warmer weather. Growing up and living here in San Diego we don’t get to truly enjoy the change of seasons (poor us right?). Springtime also means the return of baseball, which is great news!
 
In the story below you will find a great program that the Diamondbacks are doing, which actually allows fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark for some baseball. There is nothing more I enjoy than getting outside and enjoying some baseball and it would be so much fun to do it all with my dogs.

Arizona Diamondbacks: "Dog Days of Summer"

OBJECTIVES

 
The Arizona Diamondbacks wanted to give their fans a unique opportunity to be able to take in Sunday home games with their best friends. Of course by best friends, we mean their dogs. The Diamondbacks sought to create an area in the ballpark that would still let the (human) fans take in a ballgame, but also have their pets enjoy the experience by offering a baseball themed park right in the ballpark.
 
 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The “Dog Days of Summer” program, which launched on April 10th, will take place for every Sunday home game this season. “Dog Days of Summer” ticket packages include a semi-private space with all the necessities for four people and one dog.
 
Pet parents will be able to take in America’s favorite pastime with their dogs at Chase Field with exclusive seating, a grassy play area nearby, and the PetSmart adoption spot that will feature adoptable dogs ready to find their forever homes among the D-backs’ fan base.
 
For each of the 13 “Dog Days of Summer” pets can enjoy concessions such as dog-friendly ice cream with toppings like kibble and other pet treats. As part of the “Dog Days of Summer” ticket package, pet parents will also receive a PetSmart “Doggie Bag,” complete with free items from PetSmart.
 
Directly behind the PetSmart Patio is the PetSmart Park, which is an outdoor and indoor (air conditioned) dog park, so no matter how hot the Arizona Summers are the pets will still be able to enjoy the game in comfort.
 
“We are excited to create a unique dog-friendly area of our ballpark and can think of no better way than to partner with Phoenix-based PetSmart,” said D-backs president and chief executive officer, Derrick Hall. “Bark at the Park has always been a popular event at Chase Field, and now we are thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to bring their dogs to our games every Sunday to a new destination designed specifically for them. For many households a pet is an extension of their families and the D-backs are excited to partner with PetSmart to provide a family-friendly atmosphere for all family members, including our canine friends.”

PARTNERSHIP

 
The Arizona Diamondbacks teamed up with Phoenix based, PetSmart on the creation of “Dog Days of Summer”, which also features a PetSmart Patio in the concourse of the left-center field wall.
 
“We are seeing more and more establishments open up their facilities to pets – whether it’s coffee shops, retail stores, hotels or restaurants. We at PetSmart truly value the time pet parents spend with their beloved pets, and we want to help enrich the experiences they share together – including a baseball game,” said Eran Cohen, chief customer experience officer, PetSmart, Inc. “PetSmart’s home office is based right here in Phoenix, and we are thrilled to partner with the D-backs, our hometown team, on this first-ever ballpark experience with a season-long, dedicated space so fans can enjoy a Sunday ball game with their best friends or even expand their families through pet adoption.”
 

RESULTS

 
Though the event is new, the Diamondbacks have seen some very impressive results. Both of the days have sold out. Since they are individual doggie suites for the “Dog Days of Summer” there was a total of 30 dogs and 120 people for each game. The Diamondbacks and PetSmart also have had adoptable dogs on site for each of the Dog Days of Summer games. There have been a total of 12 dogs that found new homes after the game! The packages for April 24, May 1, 15, 29 and June 12 are already sold out.

LOOKING AHEAD

 
This promotion has really just started with a total of 11 more “Dogs Days of Summer” still left on the calendar but with the results it is clear that the “Dogs Days of Summer” has been a huge success. Also, this coming Sunday the Diamondbacks will be attempting to set a Guinness World Record for most dogs at a sporting event.
