Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
- After a subpar performance in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Gurabo FC of Puerto Rico, the U16 Girls bounced back to clinch the top seed in group play today, 5-1 over CSSE Impact of Canada. CSSE was undefeated and seeded first going into today’s match.

An early goal of a corner kick by Tori Cutlip gave the Lady Lions some momentum. The Impact battled back but a pair goals in just two minutes took the wind out of the Canadians. McKinley Crone converted a Sabrina Magno cross for the second Lions goal at the water break, and Kasey Raukauskas hammered home a volley from 30 yards to make it 3-0.

The Lady Lions weren’t done as Sabrina Magno and McKinley Crone hooked up again to make it 4-0 just before half. CSSE Impact would respond as Tina Jordan bent a free kick over the wall and into the side net from just outside the box. The score sat at 4-1 at break.

The second half was slow as both teams were feeling the effects of the 100 degree Heat index. The Lady Lions got their final Goal when Crone finished off her hat trick with another well placed ball from Sabrina Magno, herself earning a hat trick of assists.

The final was 5-1 but don’t be fooled as the Canadians played well and look forward to a rematch in the Final on Saturday. With the win the OCYS 95/96G Purple clinched the group and a semi-final match against Caribbean All Stars from Puerto Rico, whom they defeated 7-0 on Tuesday.

Outstanding Player
:

McKinley Crone and Sabrina Magno were dialed in today. Sabrina assisted on all 3 of McKinley’s Goals as our U14 ECNL Goalkeeper showed a bit of magic on the field.

“I was very impressed with both of these girls today,” said Coach Bobby Hurring. “They have played a total of 3 games together, but watching them you would have thought they were teammates for years. To have 2 players on the same page together like they were today is amazing.”
