Playing on artificial turf provides us with the luxury of rarely, if ever, having to cancel a match.  The field’s drainage system is state-of-the-art, and is designed for heavy rain.  Heavy rain will never result in the cancellation of an Orlando City match.  There is a small chance the rain will result in a delay of the game, but never a full cancellation.

The only chance for a cancellation is a nearby lightning storm.  Once the game officials from US Soccer take control of the match, that decision is in the hands of the head referee, not Orlando City.  Prior to that, City of Orlando management at the Citrus Bowl has control of the stadium closures.

The long and short of it is simple: Orlando City plays rain or shine.  If you ever have questions about whether a match will be played, call 855-ORL-CITY or visit www.orlandocitysoccer.com on game day.  All announcements will be made via the website and the Orlando City Facebook page, www.facebook.com/orlandocitysoccer
