ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando City Soccer Club announced today the signing of rookie Midfielder Nick Sowers.  Sowers is a native of Longwood, Fla, and an alumnus of both Lake Mary High School and Rollins College.

Sowers joins the Lions after a stellar career at Rollins College.  In his senior season, Sowers was named to the Daktronics All-South Region First Team as well as the All-Sunshine State Conference team.  In his career with the Tars, Sowers registered 16 goals and 15 assists.  Prior to attending Rollins, Sowers attended Lake Mary High School.  A stand-out player for the Rams, Sowers scored 36 goals and tallied 32 assists in his high school career.

Sowers spent the entire 2012 preseason with the Lions, and has appeared in every preseason match.  He scored his lone goal of the preseason in the 3-0 win over Stetson University.

His signing makes Sowers the third former Rollins player to join Orlando City.  His teammate for four years, Justin Clark, recently joined the squad.  The Lions’ current scoring leader, Dennis Chin, is also a former Tar.
