ORLANDO, Fla.— Orlando City SC announced Friday that Forward Dennis Chin has been sent on loan to North American Soccer League (NASL) side San Antonio Scorpions for the remainder of NASL Fall season, pending USSF approval.

San Antonio has four regular season matches left in the NASL’s split-season schedule, hosting the Atlanta Silverbacks in their next match on October 5. The Scorpions are currently in last place in the league table, holding a record of 1-1-7 (W-L-T) and four points through nine games played. The NASL is sanctioned as the second tier of professional soccer, one level below Major League Soccer. The league includes such teams as the Tampa Bay Rowdies and New York Cosmos.

Chin has been a mainstay in Central Florida since joining the Lions in 2011, quickly becoming a fan favorite during his rookie campaign. The striker had his biggest year in 2012, scoring 11 goals in the USL PRO regular season- capturing the league’s Golden Boot.

The Oviedo native notched four goals and three assist in the Lions’ run to a second USL PRO Championship in 2013. Two of the four goals occurred in the Championship, including scores in the 70th and 90th minutes in the 7-4 rout of the Charlotte Eagles. Chin scored five goals in the 2013 regular season.

Chin becomes a part of a long line of Lions who have gone on loan or on trial after the USL PRO season concluded. Players such as Max Griffin, Yordany Avarez, Lewis Neal, Kevin Molino, Jamie Watson and Matt Luzunaris have all spent time with MLS or NASL clubs after past seasons ended.
