ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando City U23s look to rebound from their second loss of the season on Sunday, June 24, against Mississippi Brilla FC at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Fla. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

“It’s no doubt an important match this late in the season,” said Orlando City U23s Head Coach Joe Avallone. “These are times you find out what kind of team you have. As a coach, you look for players that are up for the challenge. The game is about them. These are the players that find themselves playing in higher level matches in the future.”

In their last match, Orlando fell to the Ocala Stampede 1-0 at The Villages Polo Club in Ocala, Fla. Stampede Forward Karamba Janneh scored the game’s only goal in the 70th minute of the match to secure the victory over the Lions. The loss was only Orlando’s second of the season, dropping them to 4-2-4 on the year.

Sunday’s opponent, Mississippi, is currently in sixth position in the Southeast Division with a record of 4-4-1 and 13 points. Their last match also resulted in loss to the Ocala Stampede. Ocala scored two goals in the first half to take the three points at home while keeping pace with IMG Bradenton for first place in the division.

The Brilla are led by Head Coach Dave Dixon, who was a finalist for the 2010 PDL Coach of The Year after leading his club to an 11-0-3 record in the regular season. The team’s leading scorer is Midfielder Felipe Silva, who has six goals in 2012.

At the match, OCSC will be accepting new and gently used soccer balls for a mission trip to Angola done by JESUS Film Project. The mission will be traveling from village to village, with the hope of leaving a soccer ball in every place they visit. All people who bring a soccer ball to the front gate will receive a 15 percent off merchandise voucher, good for any Orlando City home match at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
