ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando City U23s look to remain undefeated in regular season play this Saturday, May 26, at the Seminole Soccer Complex against Southeast Division leading Ocala Stampede. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

The steady flow of incoming players has begun to slow down as final additions to the U23s were added this last week. Harrison Heath, son of Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath, and Darvin Ebanks round up the last players joining the U23s after Spring semester ended for their respective schools.

With all the players in training at the same time, Avallone said practice is now a very competitive environment.

“Training is very competitive. It’s a chance for the players to earn their spots. The best part is they’re getting better by competing against each other. They are all guys who want to get better and eventually move on to the higher levels.”

Founded in late December of 2011, 2012 marks the inaugural season in the PDL for the Ocala Stampede. So far, Ocala has accrued a record of 3-0-1 behind one of the PDL’s best frontlines. The Stampede’s Head Coach in Anderson DaSilva, a native of Brazil and graduate of the Brazilian Institute of futbol. Ocala is led by Forward Tenorio De Araujo, who has a league-leading six goals so far in 2012. “Ocala has a lot of experience,” Avallone said. “We tend to take the younger route when it comes to players we bring in. Ocala is atop the (divisional) table because they play a good game of football.”

City currently stands in third place in the division with a record of 2-0-1 and seven points. The club trails the Ocala Stampede and IMG Bradenton Academics, who have records of 3-0-1.

Tickets for all Orlando City U23s matches start at $5 for kids 16 and below, with admission for adults 17 and up just $10. Tickets are available at the gate before every home match. For more information on the U23s match and more, visit Orlandocitysoccer.com.

Player to Watch- Drew Helm:

After a slow start to the season, Forward Drew Helm has come on strong for the Orlando City U23s as of late. Helm, who scored the lone goal for the Lions in their 1-0 victory over the Panama City Beach Pirates, has started every U23 match so far this season and has two goals on the year.
