Orlando, Fla.- The official 2014 Premier Development League (PDL) schedule was announced on Friday afternoon, featuring seven home games at Seminole Soccer Complex, in Sanford, Fla., for the Orlando City U23s. Coached by Paul Shaw, former Arsenal F.C. player and Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) Senior Boys Academy Director, the U23s look to begin their third exciting season in the Orlando City pyramid. All home games will begin at 7 p.m.

The U23s are set to kick-off their season at home on Wednesday, May 21, against Southeast Division rivals Ocala Stampede, before venturing on a difficult three-game road trip. During that road swing, the Lions will face SW Florida Adrenaline, IMG Academy, and newly added PDL side Floridians F.C.

Other notable matches include two consecutive home games against the Panama City Beach Pirates on June 15 and June 17. The Pirates were the only club to defeat the U23s in both matches in 2013 season, with two narrow 1-0 victories.

The PDL is the top developmental men’s league in North America and includes 64 teams within four conferences throughout the United States and Canada. The PDL season consists of 14 regular season matches for each team, and provides elite collegiate players the opportunity to taste a higher level of competition while maintaining their eligibility.

Despite finishing with an 8-2-4 record last season, the U23s program continues to direct its attention toward development. Implemented in the OCSC pyramid two years ago, the U23s have already been successful at producing first team members, with five players already making their way onto the first team.

The most recent young Lion to sign with the first team came during the 2013 off-season when former Flagler Saint, Joseph Toby, inked his first professional contract. Toby was the second-ever signing for the U23s when they began operations in 2012.

The T-Pass will return as the 2014 season ticket and will grant access into all seven home matches. The exclusive t-shirt will go on sale in the coming months and will be available for purchase via OrlandoCitySC.com.
