On Friday, Orlando City SC Midfielder Kevin Molino became the first-ever player to sign a Major League Soccer (MLS) contract with the club.

The news is big for fans of the club, acquiring a player who has been with the team since Orlando City began play in 2011.

But fans may have not gotten a chance to know Molino throughout the past three years. The soft-spoken midfielder is not known for his big talk on the pitch or actions off it, but that’s the way he likes it to be.

For Molino, it’s never been about being a vocal presence either. The workman-like attitude he takes to each training session has certainly reaped its benefits, earning a contract with the club for its final USL PRO season in 2014 and first season in MLS in 2015.

Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath spoke on that portion of Molino’s game, saying while the quiet demeanor is part of the Trinidad and Tobago’s personality, he puts passion into everything he does on the field.

“One misconception about Kevin is because of his nature, which is quiet and undemonstrative, that people think that’s who he is,” said Heath. “But when he comes on the football field, he carries a lot of pride and wants to win everything he does out there.”

Heath wrapped up his comments by adding the impact Kevin will have on the club moving into the major leagues, noting his time in Orlando will make a major impact going forward.

“Kevin has been with us for a long time now. He knows his role and knows the system. We’re really excited to have him coming back with us.”
