Photo: Allison Petro Supporters of Orlando City’s Major League Soccer (MLS) bid have been emailing and calling the Orange County Commisioners in favor of funding for a new downtown soccer stadium all week, with some great messages being sent. We have seen so many great responses that we wanted to share our favorites…. “As a fourth generation Floridian, I have heard people talk over the years about how our community lacks an identity. This team has provided from a grassroots movement that people identify with. Let’s show the country and Major League Soccer that we believe.” – Chase Forth “My role as a soccer lover makes me a regular consumer in Orange County (food, gas, snacks, water, ice, bandage) – you name it we consume it. I have a BIG vested interested in Orlando City Soccer Club not only as a parent but also as a lifetime supporter of the game in Central Florida and the world.” –Kirk Chin “To the Commissioners: Soccer is the only truly global sport and, Major League Soccer will create global exposure for Orlando.” -Jay Yurkiewicz “The impact Major League Soccer will have on our economy and tourism will be felt far and wide throughout Orange County and beyond. The Orlando City Lions have set a good example with their community outreach and their youth programs. This will only continue to grow as we make the transition to MLS.” – Lester Hamm “The strength of Orlando City has been progressively building within our greater community and it has been thrilling to watch. I hope you will see fit to vote in favor of the soccer stadium when it comes to a vote.” –Jonathan McIntire Haven’t called or email the Commissioners yet?
