T-Bones Fall to Grand Prairie, 5-2

The Kansas City T-Bones (7-10) suffered their fourth straight loss after falling to the Grand Prairie AirHogs (12-5), 5-2, Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The first four batters of the game all singled against T.J. Large (1-3) with David Thomas and Cesar Nicolas both collecting RBI as Grand Prairie took a 2-0 lead in front of 4,224 fans in the first inning. The T-Bones cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when Nick Farnsworth homered off Jason Jennings (2-0) to make the score 2-1.

Cesar Nicolas drove in two more runs for Grand Prairie with a home run in the third, pushing the AirHogs lead 4-1. Tyler Henley began the sixth with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch for Grand Prairie’s final run of the game.

Large suffered the loss after allowing five runs on 10 hits over six and one-thirds innings. Kyle Dahman retired all five batters he faced in relief of Large and Aaron Cook added a scoreless ninth to finish the game for Kansas City.

Jimmy Mojica capped off the scoring with a solo home run to begin the eighth, making the final 5-2. Jon Hunton threw a scoreless ninth for the AirHogs to secure his league-leading seventh save.

Mojica extended his on-base streak to 17 games. Ray Sadler finished 0-for-four to see his on-base streak end at 16 games and his hit streak stop at nine.

The two teams face off Tuesday night as Reid Santos (2-1, 5.61) goes against Josh Rainwater (3-0, 3.79) and the AirHogs. First pitch is set for 7:05.
