09/06/2010 3:41 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones (58-42) dropped the final game of the regular season to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (61-39), 9-6, Monday afternoon in front of 7,956 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. It was the largest Monday attendance in team history.

After Matt Petrusek got two quick outs in the first, Gabriel Martinez (pictured) hit a solo home run, and Jim Fasano added an RBI double to give the T-Bones an early 2-0 advantage. Fargo cut the lead in half with a solo home run by Alan Rick off Cody McAllister (11-7) in the third, but Kansas City quickly answered, scoring two runs in the bottom of the frame on another solo shot by Martinez and an RBI double by Rico Washington.

The RedHawks then plated seven runs on six hits and a walk in the fourth, giving them a lead they would not relinquish. Eric Campbell hit a solo home run to start the inning, and three batters later, Jay Cox connected for a three-run blast. Mike Coles later added a two-RBI double, chasing McAllister. Todd Moser entered in relief and surrendered an RBI double to Nic Jackson before retiring the next two batters to end the frame.

McAllister allowed eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits and one walk while striking out three over three and one-thirds innings in the loss. Petrusek did not factor into the decision, allowing two runs on three hits in two innings.

An RBI double by Keanon Simon brought the T-Bones within three after four innings, and an RBI single by Martinez in the sixth pushed the score to 8-6.

Moser left after the sixth in favor of Casey Hodges who surrendered a one-out solo home run to Jesse Hoorelbeke in the seventh to cap the scoring at 9-6. Hodges retired the next five batters he faced before Kyle Heim threw a scoreless ninth.

Donnie Smith entered with one on in two outs in the seventh and earned the win for Fargo with one and one-thirds scoreless innings. The RedHawks used seven pitchers in the contest. Casey Hoorelbeke picked up a save with a perfect ninth.

Martinez finished the game three-for-three with two home runs and three RBI to pace Kansas City’s offense. He is now hitting .415 (22-for-53) in 14 games with the T-Bones this season. Jacob Blackwood ended the game 0-for-five, dropping him to third in the league in average at .331.

The T-Bones have an off-day Tuesday before they begin the semi-final round of the 2010 Northern League playoffs on Wednesday. Their opponent is yet to be determined, but they will face either the Joliet JackHammers or Gary SouthShore RailCats. Watch www.tbonesbaseball.com for updated information about the playoffs.
