Hurba Back for 2010 Campaign

04/07/2010 8:04 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have agreed to terms with slugger Craig Hurba for the 2010 season.

Hurba, 28, prepares for his fourth season with the T-Bones.  Originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 38th round of the 2004 amateur draft, Hurba spent two years with the Rangers before joining Kansas City for the first time in 2006.  Following a season in which he finished second in the Northern League in home runs (18) and fifth in extra-base hits (42), Hurba was named a top independent league prospect by Baseball America before having his contract purchased by the Seattle Mariners on December 4, 2006.

After spending the 2007 season in the Mariners organization, Hurba returned to Kansas City for the 2008 and 2009 campaigns.

“When Craig is on the field, you know you are getting 100% effort,” said Doherty.  “He knows the organization and will bring power to our lineup.”

Hurba appeared in 91 games for the T-Bones last season while batting .268/.334/.446 with 15 home runs and 69 RBI.  He enters the 2010 season fourth on the franchise career home run list (45) and fifth in RBI (159).

Kansas City will host exhibition games against Kansas City Kansas Community College on May 11 and 12.  Both games start at 7:05 p.m.  The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign against the RailCats in Gary, IN on May 20 and will host the defending champion Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28 at 7:05 p.m.  Single-game and season ticket packages are available now by calling 913-328-5618.  Mini-plans are also on sale for as low as $30!  For information on group outings, call 913-328-5623.  Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
