Aharon Eggleston broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single against former teammate Andy Shipman (0-1) in the top of the ninth, propelling the Kansas City T-Bones (2-2) to a 2-1 victory tonight over the Gary SouthShore RailCats (2-2) to force a deciding game five tomorrow afternoon.

Both starters were stellar in tonight’s contest but neither factored into the decision as the game remained tied at one after eight innings.  Chris Jones threw six scoreless frames for Gary, allowing just one runner past first base when Luis Terrero singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch in the sixth.  The next batter lined out to end the threat.  Jones surrendered just three hits while striking out five and walking one in his outing.

Rookie Brett Davis (pictured) posted a tremendous outing for Kansas City, surrendering just one run on two hits over seven-plus innings.  He allowed just two baserunners on a walk and a hit batsman in his first four frames before walking Mike Rohde with one out in the fifth.  Two batters later, a two-out double by Rob Marconi scored Rohde for the only RailCats run of the game.  Marconi was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple to end the inning.

Davis allowed single baserunners over the next two innings before walking the leadoff man in the eighth.

Kansas City plated their first run in the seventh against reliever Grant Johnson.  Neb Brown singled with one out and scored on a hit-and-run double by the next hitter, Jacob Blackwood.  Eddie De la Cruz induced flyouts from the next two hitters to end the inning.

After Payton Tweddale (1-0) entered for Davis in the eighth to finish off a scoreless frame, Kansas City’s offense rallied with two outs in the ninth to secure the victory.  After Shipman retired the first two batters to begin the frame, Jeff Helps drew a walk and advanced to second on a single by Ryan Fox.  Eggleston followed with a basehit to right, scoring Helps for the 2-1 advantage.

Nate Cotton finished the contest for the T-Bones, throwing a perfect ninth for his second save of the postseason.
