Rios Singles Home Scriven for Joliet Victory08/30/2009 7:56 PM - Kevin Rios singled home former T-Bone Eric Scriven to snap a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the ninth tonight as the Joliet JackHammers (33-61) defeated the Kansas City T-Bones (45-50), 2-1, at Silver Cross Field. Cody McAllister made the start for Kansas City tonight, allowing just four hits over five scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just one baserunner to reach third in the outing. Left-hander Payton Tweddale followed with a perfect sixth inning and Weston Curles walked two in a scoreless seventh before giving way to Brady Martinez (0-1) in the eighth. Devin Anderson matched McAllister through the first five innings before surrendering an RBI single to Neb Brown (pictured) in the sixth for a 1-0 T-Bones lead. After allowing two more hits in the seventh, Anderson gave way to Chad Blackwell (3-4) with two on and one out. Blackwell induced a double play from Damian Rolls to end the inning. Anderson surrendered one run on 10 hits over six and one-thirds frames, but did not factor into the decision. Blackwell earned the victory after throwing two and two-thirds scoreless innings. Joliet tied the game at one in the eighth with a solo home run by Joe Gaetti. With Martinez still on in the ninth, Scriven walked with one out and quickly stole second. Following a flyout and a walk, Rios finished the game with his RBI single to give the JackHammers the 2-1 victory. Martinez allowed two runs on two hits over two innings in the loss. Pitcher Derek Duclos served as the designated hitter for Kansas City, finishing one-for-two in the contest. Brown finished three-for-four with the T-Bones only RBI. The two teams face off one last time in 2009 tomorrow night in the regular-season finale. Joliet will send Jason Novak (2-6, 7.09) to face a pitcher to be determined for the T-Bones.
