Correll Returns for Thirds

04/30/2009 1:29 PM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have agreed to terms with Brad Correll for the 2009 season.

Correll, 27, returns to Kansas City for his third season with the T-Bones.  He began his T-Bones career in 2007, posting a .333/.396/.604 line with six home runs and 17 RBI in 24 games before having his contract purchased by the Boston Red Sox.  After hitting .344/.391/.696 with 23 home runs and 80 RBI with Single-A Lancaster to close out 2007, Correll was released and returned to the T-Bones last season.  In his second stint with the T-Bones, Correll hit .343/.434/.705 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI in 42 games before being picked up by the Kansas City Royals.

“We’re happy to have Brad back again for 2009,” said McCauley.  “He’s obviously a tremendous talent that can contribute both in the middle of our lineup and on the defensive side of the game.  We’d like to keep him for a full season, but we hope he gets another chance to advance his career as well.”

Before Correll’s departure last season, the veteran outfielder was on pace to set new Northern League records in home runs (35) and RBI (114).  He was named Player of the Week in his final week with the T-Bones after hitting .393 with three home runs and 13 RBI in that span.

The T-Bones begin their title defense at home against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on May 15.  Single-game tickets for the 2009 exhibition and regular season are on sale now and start at just $6.  Season tickets, group tickets, mini-plans and All-You-Can-Eat plans are available as well.  For more information, call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com
