Potters Comeback Falls Short, Drop Home Opener

Potters drop the home opener after a late push against the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox 11-10. The Potters were winning 3-1 after the first inning because of 3-run home run from Daniel Susac, his 2nd in the young season. The Future Wildcat went 1-2 on the night with a BB and HBP. The Gold Sox countered with 5 runs in the top of 2nd and never relinquished the lead.   Potters gave up 9 runs in the first 3 innings and trailed 9-5. The Gold Sox would add a single run in the 5th and 8th innings but never put together another rally. Potters offense loaded up the bases a few times throughout the game but only capitalized in the bottom of the 9th making a late push by scoring 5 runs without getting a hit to try and take the game but fell short.

Potters pitching struggled with command issuing 15 walks on the night.  Nolan Jensen and Bradley Wilcott performed well out of the pen going 4 innings and only giving up 1 run and striking out 5. Polo Portello and Ty Tracy combined to work 5 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts and gave the Gold Sox a much-needed boost to keep the Potter offense down. Both teams combined with 27 walks and 33 strikeouts with only 12 hits. Jorge Bojorquez recorded 2 of those hits and scored 2 runs on the night as well. Eddie Park reached based 4 times by recording 4 walks as the top of the potters lineup was able to work it's way on base throughout the game. Ty Tracy took the win and Angel Cespedes takes the loss. Potters Fall to 2-1 on the year.

Potters hitters struck out 19 times on the night and that lack of contact hurt them with runners in scoring position. Players are going to work out some kinks in the early season as with the players not having any playing time during the normal season. Potters are right back at it again on Thursday, against the Packers.
