Tech Tank Overview

The NSF Tech Tank is designed to expose innovative companies to teams, sports properties and agencies. The 2017 NSF Tech Tank will take place on Sunday February 12, 2017 from 11am - 5pm and will consist of three (3) “flights” centered on specific technological trends in the sports industry:

1. Ticketing – There is no denying that ticket sales is the backbone of each sports franchise, as filling the stadium with engaged fans in priority number one. This flight aims to showcase innovative companies in the ticketing space and will focus on new and unique ways for sports properties to increase their ticketing revenues, drive season ticket renewals, maximize inside sales operations, etc.

2. Corporate Partnership & Brand Activation – In today’s digital era, sports organizations and their corporate partners are looking for the best ways to engage fans and consumers. Sponsors, agencies, and sports properties are getting away from the era of static signage and mass marketing, and seeing partnerships becoming more and more targeted and experiential. In this flight we look to uncover new technologies that can be adding a value to existing corporate partnerships, as well as technologies that could be introducing new revenue streams for sports properties.

3. The Fan Experience – “The Fan Experience” flight aims to showcase innovative companies assisting sports organizations in creating a next level of engagement with their fans inside the venue and out. Creating a unique in-venue experience is a driving force in our industry today, as well is generating year-round engagement campaigns between team and fan. This flight is looking to introduce new and innovative companies that can be assisting properties in generating that memorable experience for fans!

The presentations should answer the following questions:
  • What is it?
  • How can sports properties / sports sponsors use it?
  • What value does this add to the fan experience?
  • How can teams/events be making money on this?
  • Has this technology been used with other organizations in the sports industry and what have been the results?
Each flight panel will be given a specific (…to that flight) rubric to judge the criteria of each presentation and at the end of the day the judges decided who was their favorite.

The three winners (one per flight), will be announced during the Minnesota Vikings Welcome Reception (Sunday Night). The winner from each flight will become a panelist on a Tuesday afternoon breakout session titled “Best of the NSF Tech Tank” to further raise awareness of their innovative technology.

Winning companies of each flight will:
  • Earn the right to be panelist during a Tuesday afternoon breakout session highlighting “The Best of the NSF Tech Tank.” In case anyone misses out on seeing what the NSF Tech Tank has to offer, they will be able to catch what the judges elected as the winners from each flight. The breakout session will be an hour long and each panelist will have 10-minutes to speak with an additional 5-minutes for Q&A.
  • In addition, there will be a webinar following the National Sports Forum highlighting the winners of each flight. Similar to the Tuesday afternoon breakout session, each winner will have the ability to have a presence as a panelist to further elaborate on what the judges saw.
