University of Kansas product Ryan Knippschild (8-6) gave the Kansas City T-Bones (44-32) seven strong innings, leading the way to a 4-2 victory over the Rockford RiverHawks (38-38) in game one of a doubleheader Saturday evening at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Kansas City got on the board first against Brett Durand (7-7), taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run by Ray Sadler.  Rockford quickly answered, tying the game in the top of the second on an RBI double by Travis Scott and an RBI single by Bud Long.

After finishing the second, Knippschild faced just two over the minimum over his final five innings. The left-hander allowed the two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four, earning the complete-game victory.

The T-Bones took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Dwayne White, and added their final tally on a solo home run by Jacob Blackwood in the third to push the final score to 4-2.

Durand allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings, striking out six in a complete-game loss.
