Fox Returns for 2010 Season

01/18/2010 9:56 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced that Ryan Fox has agreed to a contract for the 2010 season.

Fox, 29, appeared in 93 games with the T-Bones last season, posting a .242/.326/.519 line with 24 home runs and 65 RBI.  He finished second in the league in home runs and extra-base hits (44), and fifth in slugging.  His home run total was the fourth highest in franchise history.

“Fox is a versatile player that will give us some options going forward,” said Doherty.  “He demonstrated good power last season and we look for him to show more ability to put the ball in play this year.”

Fox was originally drafted as a pitcher by the Colorado Rockies in the 21st round of the 2003 amateur draft.  After four seasons in the Rockies organization, he split time between the Golden and United Leagues, both independent entities.  In 2007, Fox broke the United League single-season home run record with 23, his career high until last season.  Over the last three seasons, his first as a full-time position player, he has hit 63 home runs while driving in 213 runs in 269 games.

The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign in Gary, Ind. on May 20 and will host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28.  Season ticket packages and mini plans are available now by calling 913-328-5618.  For information on group outings, call 913-328-5623.  Single game tickets will go on sale in March.  Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
