The York Revolution hit two home runs early, led 6-0 after the fourth inning and held on late to defeat the Lancaster Barnstormers 6-4 to take the series finale, and move back in front by a game in the Freedom Division standings on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,042 fans at PeoplesBank Park.
Alonzo Harris began the home first with a leadoff home run over the Arch Nemesis in left to put the Revs ahead 1-0. It was Harris’ team-leading 19th home run of the season, and fourth to lead off a game.
The Revs went right back to the long ball in the third. With two outs and Travis Witherspoon on first following a walk, Jared Mitchell slugged an opposite field home run off of Rommie Lewis to put the Revs ahead 3-0.
The Revs added on in the fourth. With Luis Cruz on at first and two outs, the Revs strung together three straight hits. Dayron Varona laced a single through the right side to put runners at first and second, and Ryan Dent followed with a run scoring single to right. Witherspoon followed, splitting the left center gap for a double to bring home Varona and Dent, making it 6-0 Revs.
Frank Gailey picked up right where he left off, following a seven inning, one-hit shutout of the Patriots on Tuesday. Gailey held the Barnstormers to just three hits through the first four innings, and struck out four in the process, inducing many swings and misses.
The Barnstormers would get to him for the first time in the fifth. Gailey walked two in the frame, and with two outs, Beau Amaral capitalized, driving a double down the line in left to get the Barnstormers on the board at 6-1.
Gailey yielded two more hits in the sixth, and with one away, Mark Mason called on Joe Van Meter. Nate Coronado was the first to face the Revs righty, and greeted him with a three run blast to left center to cut the Revs lead to 6-4.
Van Meter would bounce back and retire the final two hitters in the frame and the Revs bullpen was flawless the rest of the way. Michael Click worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning picking up two strikeouts, and Brad Allen and Chase Huchingson worked scoreless eighth and ninth innings respectively.
Huchingson picked up his third save of the season and second against Lancaster, holding on to the 6-4 victory. Gailey earned the victory, his league leading 11th of the season, and 22nd of his Revs career.
The Revs hit the road Monday for a four game series at Long Island. The Revs have yet to announce their starter for the opening game of the series, but will face Ducks righty Matt Larkins (7-6, 3.65) in a 6:35 p.m. tilt.

The leadoff home run by Alonzo Harris was his fourth of the season, second most in a single season, as well as second most for a career by a Rev. Mitchell’s home run was his 9th in his last 40 games. Isaias Tejeda extended his hitting streak to 11 in a row with a fifth inning single, while Telvin Nash made it 10 games in a row with a hit, blooping a seventh inning single to right. The Revs as a team hit seven home runs in the series, and now have 112 dingers on the season, trailing only the Barnstormers who have hit 117.
