REVS FALL IN SMD

(July 9, 2022 – Waldorf, Md.):  The York Revolution dropped their third straight to begin the second half, losing 3-1 to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Friday night at Regency Furniture Stadium.

In a sixth consecutive low-scoring affair, the Revs fell behind in the first inning on a two-out RBI single to right by David Harris.

York tied the game in the top of the fourth when Troy Stokes Jr. worked a one-out walk, moved to second on his 24th stolen base of the year, and scored on a double down the right field line by Jack Kenley (3-for-4), evening the score at 1-1.

Revs starter Nick Travieso (2-5) allowed just two hits through the first five innings, but the Blue Crabs rallied for three hits in the sixth, scoring twice to go ahead 3-1.  Harris (3-for-3) was again the catalyst, ripping an RBI double down the left field line for his second go-ahead RBI of the night.  Braxton Lee drove in Harris from third on a two-out infield single to provide what turned out to be the final scoring of the night.

Crabs lefty McKenzie Mills (9-1) took sole possession of the league lead in victories, limiting York to five hits in six innings while striking out seven.

Bradley Roney handled a scoreless seventh and eighth while Endrys Briceno worked a 1-2-3 ninth to close it out with his fifth save.

The Revs got scoreless frames from Brett de Geus and Tuck Tucker in relief.  Tucker’s scoreless outing was his sixth straight to begin his pro career.

Each team managed just five hits.  For the Revs, it marked the fourth time in the last six games that they played to a 3-1 final, while the other two games on that stretch have been decided by 4-2 finals. It was York’s second consecutive 3-1 loss as Thursday’s game in Lancaster saw each team manage only six hits.

Kenley’s three-hit performance tied a season-best as it was his fifth three-hit game of the year and first since June 9.

Carlos Franco saw his franchise record 50-game on-base streak come to a close in the loss.

York will look to even the series on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. with Austin Nicely going up against Daryl Thompson.  Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 98.9 FM & 1350 WOYK, 989woyk.com, The New WOYK app, and the WOYK YouTube channel beginning at 6:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
